HDC Sustainability
Hooven-Dayton Corporation is proud to do its part for the environment. We are ISO 9001:2008 certified. HDC is also working toward L.I.F.E. (Label Initiative For the Environment) certification. This is a rigorous program offered through the Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute.
As a part of our effort to lessen our carbon footprint and work toward environmental sustainability, we have partnered with suppliers who share our values. Depending on our customers’ requirements, these partners can supply us with:
- Water-based & UV inks and coatings
- No solvent inks
- Environmentally friendly materials including:
- Tree Free Materials
- PLA Films
- Dissolvable Papers
- Post Consumer Waste Materials
- SFI and FSC Materials
- Recycling-Compatible Adhesives
- PET Liners – which reduce shipping weight
- Kraft liners instead of bleached papers
- Recycling Programs we employ to reduce landfill and toxic waste include:
- Corrugated/Cardboard Products recycling
- Paper trim waste compacted and sent to a paper mill
- Used inks and plate residue are shipped to recycling facilities
Our Digital Prepress capabilities are also good for the environment. We use a laser engraver to make our plates, as opposed to a traditional film process, which contains silver and utilizes solvents.
